As the Church, our response in moments like this is critical. We are called to live with hope, compassion, and eternal perspective. We see in Hebrews 6:19 the steadfastness of God’s hope; it’s an anchor to our soul. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us that God is compassionate; He comforts us in our troubles, that we may comfort those facing trouble. And Jesus powerfully reminds us in John 16:33 to take heart, for he has overcome the world and His Kingdom is here. This means we can stand in His hope, embody compassion, and intercede alongside the Holy Spirit for God’s Kingdom to break in.
At Rockharbor we believe prayer has the power to change circumstances. May we lean into this and intercede for all who are impacted. Pray for protection, that God would stop the spread and destruction of this disease (Ps. 79:8). Pray against fear, that the Church would unite in God’s hope and faithfulness and extend that to others (Psalm 46:1-2). Pray for wisdom in our world leaders, doctors, and the pathway forward (Prov. 2:6). Finally, in acknowledgement of the present reality, we pray, “Your kingdom come, Lord.”
We will continue monitoring the situation and communicate updates as they develop through all of our primary communication platforms.
