“You are the light of the world. A town on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your your light shine before others,
that they may your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16

It is the Church’s job to provide direction and hope through light during times of disorientation.  Jesus assigned us this vocation of showing the way through our lives, both individually and corporately.  During this season, we want to focus on and highlight ways to love those around us. Our desire is to continue to love God as the foundation for everything we say and do, love others with our words, and love others with our action. Through our service to those around us, we desire to encourage and lift those in need. We also hope that our deeds will provide an inspiring view of the Church to the watching world.

Suzette and Elizabeth are chaplains with Saddleback Hospital. We have come to love Suzette and see what an amazing role God has called her and Elizabeth too. While hospitals are overflowing with patients that are unable to interact with their families, friends, and pastors – chaplains are called in to provide spiritual care, often while only being able to meet with patients over the phone.

We wanted to immediately jump in and support Suzette and Elizabeth! What better way to do that than food? While we can’t provide homemade meals, we can purchase gift cards to ease their burden of caring for themselves and their families after coming home from caring for so many others all day. If you would like to send Elizabeth or Suzette a meal, please use the forms below.

Assembled Gifts of Encouragement for Saddleback Staff and Local Seniors

On Saturday, February 27th, we came together to put together goody bags, including notes of prayer and encouragement for people around us who may feel unseen or lonely during this time. We assembled 70 baskets that will be delivered to local seniors! (These will be delivered on April 9th. If you would like to be a part of the delivery team, please email Sharon.)

Our gift boxes for Saddleback Staff will be delivered to 85 Hospital Staff covering 3 departments: Case Managers and Social Workers, Respiratory Therapists, and Human Resources. We also delivered 100 Easter Baskets for them to give to their kids.

We had so much fun and are so excited to be a part of reminding those around us that they are seen and loved. There will be another Assembly Day in April. Details coming soon!

Talked about Loving in a Cancel Culture

On January 27th, we invited friends, family, and neighbors to join us to have a conversation about having good conversations. We set out to develop an imaginative approach of engaging society, colleagues, family, neighbors, etc. with faithhope and love. We enjoyed our time so much that we decided to keep it going!

You can watch the recording and learn about upcoming How to Love events at rockharbor.org/howtolove.
