Paul in Athens

July 7, 2013  —

Upon entering Athens, Paul is overcome with distress at the various idols that the people are worshipping. Instead of running away and avoiding the situation, he confronts the people head on, sharing the gospel with them in terms they resonate with. Although the crowd is a mixture of people – ranging from stoics to epicureans to religious thinkers – Paul,ξthroughξthe power of the Holy Spirit, is able to evangelize and meet them where they are at.

Scripture: Acts 17:16-34
