Romans: All Have Sinned pt2

October 19, 2015  —

When we judge and condemn others for their judgements, we are in the same category. ξWe are measured against God’s standards, not the standards of others.

Corporate Prayer of Confession

Holy Father-

We humble ourselves, bowing our hearts and heads before You, confessing that we have seen ourselves in the mirror of Your righteousness. Give us courage not to look away.

We confess that too often we have enjoyed the wonder of your creation without turning to thank You. Instead of worshiping You, we have given our hearts and bodies to other things.ξAs a result, we have become greedy, envious, deceitful, and malicious. In our pride and arrogance, we have crafted new ways of rebellion and disobedience and have become untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful.

And, what may be even worse, we have stood tall in our stubborn self-righteousness and looked down on others, consideringξourselves better than they. In doing so, we join them- none of us better than any other.

We have taken advantage of your kindness to continue in self-destruction. Help us now to take advantage of your kindness to repent- to turn from our destructive ways and to walk in wholeness.

Father God, forgive us our sins. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Spirit of God, full us with life anew.

Create within us clean hearts. Restore to us the joy of our salvation.

Because our prayers do not rest on our righteousness, but on Yours, we know that we have been heard, that our sins are forgiven, that we are made whole. And we give You thanks.
