Although the church is experience great suffering and pain upon the death of Stephen, they do not find themselves being reclusive or jeeping to themselves. Instead, in light of their pain, they turn outward and preach the Gospel to people outside of their normal proximity. The church embraces a life that is very unfamiliar and uncomfortable for people who had been a tight knit community within Jerusalem. This is first portrait of the church actually going to proclaim the message of the Gospel, in fulfillment of the GreatξCommissionξthat Jesus spoke over them before his ascension.
