Campus Pastor Thaddeus & Kristen Fennig

(on the beaches of Gulf Shores, AL with Jackson, Rosie, and Lincoln)

Thad & Kristen met in the summer of 2009 on the sunny beaches of Huntington Beach, CA. They were engaged in six months and married just over a year after first meeting. They both felt a call into ministry but weren’t sure of that calling until Rockharbor introduced the Church Planting Residency in the spring of 2013.

Thad spent two years in Residency training – growing in church planting understanding, learning church theology, sitting with various church planters and leaders, and getting practical know-how in serving at their local Rockharbor campus.

After four months of prayer and discernment, they felt God calling them to plant Rockharbor in Charlotte, NC. And so, in the fall of 2015, they packed up their life in CA and moved across the country to NC.

Thad enjoys all things Alabama and almost every sport. He’s also a bit of nerd with his videogames and enjoys reading as much as he can. When we’re not all quarantined, you can find him at a local Starbucks, Costco, or the gym!

Kristen is a full time stay at home mom and a part time furniture renovator. What was originally a therapeutic hobby painting old furniture turned into a part time business that brings her joy!

More than anything, Thad and Kristen both have a love for the local church, the person of Jesus, and inviting others to follow Jesus and be the Church.

Worship Pastor

Describe your job
I get to help lead our congregation into God’s presence through music and worshipful expression!
Beach or mountains?
This is a hard one for me. I have come to enjoy the beach more in the last two years, because the water on the East Coast is so much warmer! But I think I would still choose the mountains over the beach. Especially if there’s a lake nearby!
Coffee or tea?
There’s no competition here… Coffee, always coffee. I can’t function without it.
Early bird or night owl?
Definitely a night owl but I have a feeling this is all going to change once my baby boy arrives in May!
In my free time I enjoy…
Quiet time, singing and checking out fun new food spots!
Favorite spot in Charlotte?
I would say there’s quite a few but usually the ones with outdoor sitting areas and live music! If I had to pick I would say a super cute coffee shop called Coco and the Director in Uptown
One place I’ve always wanted to visit is…
Italy! I have quite a bit of heritage in Italy and have yet to visit!
The best movie of all time is clearly…
How to lose a guy in 10 days! I think I can quote most of it!

I have always gotten Mandy Moore and now more than ever since the show “This is Us” has aired.

Campus Elders

With Jesus Christ as the head of the church, Rockharbor is led and overseen by Elders serving in various capacities. Key among these responsibilities is that those Elders serve on the All-Church Elder Team and Campus-specific Elder Teams. The Campus Elder Team is a group of volunteers nominated from within each Campus’ community, but also considered and elected by current Campus Elders.

Our current Campus Elders are:

Erik von Husen
Jay Rochon
Sullivan Silva
Jared Worthington

You can read more about Rockharbor’s elders here.
