We Build Communities to Reach Every Community.
Rockharbor was founded with the vision of being an authentic, genuine, spirit-filled community of Christ followers.
Rockharbor was launched in 1997 by a small team of ambitious church-planters. In the early years, the church gathered in a community center in Costa Mesa, CA. In 2004, we opened the doors to our first permanent meeting space, a warehouse in east Costa Mesa. This would become the launching pad for many new church communities that shared the same vision. In 2009, we began commissioning leaders to plant new Rockharbor campuses throughout Southern California and one in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Since the very beginning, we have been a church marked by volunteerism, hospitality, and creativity. We desire to be an expression of God’s radical love to all people; rooted in prayer, bible reading, and the spiritual disciplines; seeking the reconciliation and restoration of all people and creation in alignment with God’s kingdom; and joyful carriers of God’s presence to the ends of the earth.
We continue to be led and empowered by the Holy Spirit as we seek to reach every community.
We see a church...
Dropping everything to follow Jesus.
Following Jesus involves sacrifice. We want to be people who daily die to our old selves, finding life in Christ alone.
Becoming like Jesus.
Becoming like Jesus means yielding to the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, living in authentic biblical community, and establishing ourselves in prayer and God’s word.
Doing what Jesus does.
We embody the life of Jesus by reaching the one. This involves serving others, inside and outside the church, proclaiming good news to the poor, setting captives free, healing the sick, and bringing freedom to the oppressed.
